Great Play Table: Svala Set from Ikea

Sue writes

I love looking round Ikea and on a recent visit I noticed this great value table and chairs set for children. Both my daughters loved climbing onto the chairs and sitting at the little table. The Svala set (shown left) is left plain so that it can be painted or stained to match your nursery if you wish. This would make a great play table. The Svala set costs £19.99 for a table and 2 small chairs.

Urchin have a 20% off offer on their bean bag at present. I personally am a big lover of beanbags, especially when the kids were younger, I made a quiet corner for my kids, where we had beanbags, blankets and books, so we could snuggle up, have a cuddle and read a story.

The beanbag available is in a royal blue colour, it has a removable cover, carry handle and is 50 cm in diameter. Price is £34.39. RRP is £42.99.

Ladybird White Wooden Desk and Stool

Brenda writes…

Looking for a smart little desk for your pre-schooler but don’t want to spend a small fortune?  Then check out this cute little desk and stool from Woolworths.

I have seen lots of really expensive desks and have featured a few on our sister site Bambino Goodies, but have found it really difficult to find traditonal ones that represent value for money.  That was until I checked out High street favourite Woolworths.

They have this classic style in a white finish, that has a front opening storage area, great for hiding away their creative tools without needing an extra storage area. Coming with its own cute little seat, this would look good in any room of the house.

Dimensions are 70 x 52 x 70.

Available from Woolworths for £35.

Bargain Alert! East Coast Dresser Joanna

Brenda writes…

We recently featured this over on our sister site Bambino Goodies, but it is such a good bargain, I could not resist featuring it here for you, in case you missed it.  From BBG favourites Kiddicare is this fabulous dresser.

You have a choice of 3 styles, Antique Pine, Whitewash Rattan or Antique Rattan.  Not being particularly fond of the plainness of them, I would be inclined to jazz it up with funky colours or decals, but with the price being so good, you will have the chance to do so.

It comes flatpacked, so you need to have someone who is handy to put it up for you.  Currently there is a 6-8 week delivery period and it gets sent out directly from the manufacturer to you.

Please note on the image it has the changing unit, that is not included in the price.  Dimensions are:  90 x 84 x 44.

Available from Kiddicare for £69.99.  RRP is £199.99.

Featured retailer: Roomers Gifts

Brenda writes…

This weeks featured retailer is Roomers Gifts and we are talking to Abi Roman and Aimee Sawers who are partners in the twelve year old company.

Abi says that their range of personalised children’s gifts and furniture evolved from the early days of the business when they decorated and personalised children´s bedrooms, hence the name Roomers.  They saw a niche to develop matching accessories such as keepsake boxes and door plaques which then became so popular at gift shows that they decided to open a shop, and two years ago, they launched their website to accommodate their customers who had discovered their products but were not able to get to their shop.  Since then, the website has taken off and they have been steadily adding to their range of products.

They have developed their own very unique range of wooden personalised gifts and accessories.  Their best sellers are their beautiful hand-personalised keepsake boxes which come in a range of colours and sizes to suit all tastes and budgets.  To compliment these they have also developed matching picture frames, mirrors, door plaques and money boxes.  Amongst other personalised items you can find our cosy hooded towels, handy toy boxes, and sturdy tool boxes.  I have to say my daughter has the whole range as she was given it as a present when she was leaving school from her friends and it is gorgeous -she often gets complimented on her bedroom and its accessories.

Abi´s best budget tip is:  if you want to spruce up your existing furniture without spending a fortune, try their stick ups!  they come in Heart, Football or Flower shapes in different sizes to add the finishing touch to any child´s room.  Available from £12.99 per pack.

Roomers best budget buy is:  their personalised rocking chairs which make a really memorable keepsake for years to come.

In their spare time, Abi likes to try and squeeze in a bit of Desperate Housewives in between running after three young kids and Aimee love pilates and fine dining.

Roomers have kindly given BBG readers 10% off all orders.  All you have to do is enter the discount code BAMBINO when prompted and it’s valid until 20th December 2008.

Beige Hauck Glider Chair with Stool - Discounted

Brenda writes…

I loved my nursing chair, it was a special place that only my bambino and I were allowed to sit and chill. Some people thought I was being a bit off because I would not let anybody else sit in it, but it had special memories for me. Of course when I saw this on special offer, I just had to share it with you in case you wanted to make your own special seat for you and your baby.

This fabulous modern styled glider chair which gently glides is very practical as the arms are low, the chair swivels 360 degrees, it has large pockets in the chair arms for storing all the essential baby necessities, and has a handle which can be operated one handed for reclining the chair if you fancy taking a bit of R & R. It looks good too with its leather style padded seat and footrest and a stylish modern feel to the steel tube detail.

Available from Olivers Babycare for a special discounted price of £96.50 for the beige colour.  If you wish the black unfortunately you will have to pay the full price of £159.99

Dream Town Rose Lounge Set

Brenda writes…

A lot of kiddie furniture is quite expensive and therefore out of the budget.  But if you have a little princess, who loves to play pretend tea parties, then this is a great budget option that you can put on the pressie list.

The lounge set includes: an inflatable table with a solid top, 2 soft flock poufs and a fabric table cloth to match the soft flock.

It comes flat packed and is easy to assemble, deflate, and store when not being used.

Suitable from age 3 years+.

Available from Woolworths for £19.99.

Haba Chilly Swing Seat

Brenda writes…

We love to look for chill out seats for our kiddies and us and this is a good budget one to check out.

Made by the German company Haba, who manufacture kids toys to a very high standard, this chilly seat comes with a 2 year guarantee.

It has a super-comfy cushion insert, the spring has a fabric guard, it requires a ceiling hook if fixing it indoors (you are able to buy these from your local DIY store), or you can fix it to a tree branch using rope.  It can safely take 100kg swinging or 200kg static. It’s made from Cordura, which is waterproof and weatherproof, but it is not recommended to leave it out at night or during bad weather.

Suitable for ages 3+ solo or younger with adult supervision.

Available from Babyworld for £50.13.  Was £65.99 saving you a cool 24%.
