Great Play Table: Svala Set from Ikea

Sue writes

I love looking round Ikea and on a recent visit I noticed this great value table and chairs set for children. Both my daughters loved climbing onto the chairs and sitting at the little table. The Svala set (shown left) is left plain so that it can be painted or stained to match your nursery if you wish. This would make a great play table. The Svala set costs £19.99 for a table and 2 small chairs.

Review: Kipiis Bib Clips

Erica writes …

I was very keen to try out these Kipiis (“Kip-eez”) Bib Clips as they seem a really interesting idea and look so funky. It was great to find that they are incredibly easy to use: You simply squeeze the clips and insert the napkin, teatowel, muslin or whatever else you are using in place of a bib. Then you place the Kipiis around your babies neck and pull the back fastener to adjust the fit.

Being able to adjust them means that you get a much better fit than you do with any bib that I have tried using (and I’ve tried lots). I used these in a local cafe with a group of other mums, many of whom have more than one child, and they all were very impressed with them and are planning to buy them. Before I tried them I wondered if they would be more trouble than just carrying disposable bibs around, but the Kipiis fitted much better than travel bibs (I always find they don’t have very strong sticking power so they end up all over the place).

I think they would also be useful for a very sicky baby as you could use them to attach a muslin or similar to catch the sick and because you can get a good fit it would be more effective than just tucking into the neck of clothes.

The Kipiis will be finding a permanent place in my baby bag as they are really useful when out and about.

Available from Travelling with Children for £6.99.

My children loved their bouncer chairs and so do many of my friends babies. So if you are unable to borrow one or find a nearly new one, why not check out this latest offering from BBG favourite Kiddicare.

This cute bouncer from My Child, has a fresh look to it with bright colours on a beige background. It has a removable head pad, and a soft toy bar with 3 cute soft toys to help stimulate your bambino. It also gives off a gently vibration, which all babies love.

Boots Microwave Steriliser

Brenda writes…

When my kids were little, I used to shop in Boots loads. They were one of the first to launch a loyalty card scheme and I used to rake up lots of points by buying all my baby stuff there. So I always have a bit of a nostalgia look at the baby section and were happy to see that Boots have 25% off their own range of sterilisers and bottles.

If you have decided not to breastfeed, one essential on your list will be a sterliser. Boots have their own brand microwave steriliser on offer. It takes 5-8 minutes, and holds 4 wide necked bottles.

The steriliser includes 2 x 260ml wide necked bottles and tongs. £14.21, was £18.95.
