Holly writes…Baby sleeping bags are a must have item for most parents. They keep your baby warm and snug and stop covers being kicked off in the night, helping everyone to get a good night’s sleep. Sleeping bags are also recommended by FSID (Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths) as a way to keep your baby safe at night and help prevent cot death. They are a safe alternative to blankets as your baby can’t slip underneath and by choosing the correct tog bag you can keep your baby at the perfect temperature.
Sleeping bags can be very expensive, with some brands retailing at £40 each or more, but I have found 6 bargain sleeping bags for all you budget conscious parents - all at under £20 each!

At only £15 each to start with you can buy 2 for just £25. I just love this cool stripey number (pictured above), which would be suitable for a boy or girl. Mamas & Papas have reduced the price of selected Dreampod sleeping bags. This super cute unisex Bedtime Hugs bag is available in 1 or 2.5 tog, but only in the 0-6 month size. At just £14, reduced from £28 it is a great price and being Mamas & Papas it is sure to be of brilliant quality.
Kiddicare have a great selection of sleeping bags from just £7.99 each! This velour Noukies Tifoo bag is just gorgeous and looks so soft and cosy, if I were a baby I would want to sleep in one! It is available in 2 different colours in the small size or 1 colour in the larger size. The RRP for these sleeping bags is £31.97, but Kiddicare have them for a fantastic £14.98.
I just couldn’t resist featuring this unusual, but delicious, tiger sleeping bag from French company Vertbaudet. It is only £16 and with tiger feet and a matching hat your little one is sure to feel purrrrrfect! It is super soft velour on the outside with cool tiger stripes and 100% cotton jersey inside, meaning your baby will stay snug and warm in colder weather, but won’t overheat. It is available in 2.5 tog and in two sizes, 0-6 months and 6 months-2 years. It also comes in ladybird and frog designs, which are equally as scrummy!
Mothercare have a range of sleeping bags in their sale. There are quite a few 1 tog Grobags with 50% off, but as these are only really suitable for the summer months I have decided to feature this bright and colourful Fun at the Zoo Snoozie bag, reduced from £24.99-£26.99 to £17.49-£18.89. It is lined in 100% cotton jersey and comes in 1 or 2.5 tog and in 3 sizes, from newborn to 3 years. There is a great range of bedding and nursery decor that matches this sleeping bag, so if you are going for a co-ordinated jungle themed nursery, this would be perfect.
Tots Planet have selected Grobag branded sleeping bags in their sale. This groovy Jellybean striped bag is just £15.50 reduced from £21.95. It is only available in the 0-6 months size and in 2.5 tog, but is a great buy if you have a little baby. All Grobags come with a free nursery thermometer and a really useful chart stating which tog Grobags should be used at what temperature and what your baby should wear underneath the bag. It can also be viewed on their website and is a great guide to use when buying a sleeping bag.
